This biennial fair is where brands, designers, and architects come together to showcase the latest ideas in workspace innovation. For us, it was an exciting opportunity to explore new designs, get a sense of the latest trends, and find inspiration for our future projects. Let’s dive into the highlights!

Trends at Orgatec 2024. 8 Key Directions
Every timeat Orgatec we’re introduced to exciting innovations - not only specific products but also the emerging trends that will shape the industry in the coming months. In 2024, one of the most prominent themes has been a commitment to sustainability, with many brands focused on eco-friendly design, recycled materials, and a balanced approach to resource use. Alongside these green initiatives, new trends in color palettes and furniture finishes have also made a significant impact, showcasing a fresh, modern aesthetic that redefines workspace interiors.
Here are the eight main trends we noted at Orgatec, all of which reflect how companies and designers are responding to the changing demands of workspaces.
Sustainable Materials and Circular Design
Sustainability was a recurring theme, with brands showcasing eco-friendly materials and designs. For instance, Flokk impressed by making their entire exhibit recyclable. This focus on sustainability aligns with Europe’s “8th Environmental Action Program” which encourages industries to aim for climate neutrality by 2030. As interior designers, we appreciate this approach to product manufacturing, keeping future generations and the surrounding natural environment in mind.
Rising Use of Recycled Plastic Surfaces
Recycled plastic tabletops, though still emerging, are expected to be widely adopted by the next Orgatec. This sustainable choice is currently more expensive but shows a strong trend toward eco-conscious materials. Many companies are willing to bear the cost of implementing eco-friendly solutions, which is appreciated by their clients, partners, and employees alike. This way, everyone benefits from "green" interior design.
Color Trends: Mint, Burgundy, Sky Blue
Nature-inspired colors like mint and burgundy remained popular, with sky blue joining the palette. Shades of green, symbolizing eco-friendliness, were dominant, creating fresh, calming atmospheres for offices. Subtle, natural colors work wonderfully in interior design projects. In the workplace, they help people stay focused on tasks and create a pleasant atmosphere. In apartments and homes, these tones provide a calming environment that promotes relaxation.
Bronze in Metallic Accents
Bronze metallic finishes were present in many exhibits, adding a warm, modern touch to workspace designs. This tone is subtle yet sophisticated, making it a popular choice for fixtures and accents.
Bouclé Fabrics Fade but Leave a Soft Touch
Bouclé fabric, though less common this year, continues to be appreciated for its cozy texture. While it requires careful maintenance, bouclé offers an inviting feel in lounge areas.
Workspace Flexibility for Hybrid Models
Hybrid work has redefined office spaces, leading to new layouts. Now, 30% of office spaces are dedicated desks, another 30% are shared “hot desks,” and the remaining 40% are flexible areas for meetings and collaboration. This balance reflects the need for multifunctional spaces in modern workplaces.
When designing offices for companies that embrace a hybrid work model, we include not only hot desks and additional storage options for employees, such as lockers. An essential addition to the office is also a relaxation area or rooms for informal meetings, like a playroom. Conversations in these settings often spark creativity, with more than a few breakthrough ideas emerging over a foosball table or during a casual chat.
Acoustic and Pet-Friendly Solutions
Acoustic booths and pet-friendly designs were popular, as companies are recognizing the need for sound management and a comfortable work environment for employees who bring their pets.
Expanding Education and Hospitality Lines
Many brands presented new lines for educational and hospitality spaces, applying office design concepts in different settings. This expansion demonstrates how office innovations are influencing other industries.
Brands at Orgatec
Many brands presented new lines for educational and hospitality spaces, applying office design concepts in different settings. This expansion demonstrates how office innovations are influencing other industries.
We were especially pleased to visit the booths of companies we've collaborated with for quite some time:
Framery – makers of arguably the best acoustic pods for offices worldwide.
Narbutas – showcasing acoustic lamps, planters, and a fantastic new chair collection.
Bejot – presenting the most new collections, and we can’t wait to see them launched (we’re certain the Jelly sofa will be a big hit!).
Noti – beautiful tables from their new collection with tabletops made of recycled plastic.
Cascando – as always, offering exceptional quality, including new whiteboard designs.
Flokk – a sustainability-focused manufacturer, known for brands like HAG and Profim.
As we return from Orgatec, we’re excited to bring these insights into our own projects. By staying on top of these trends, we can continue to create spaces that are not only functional but also in harmony with the latest innovations in the industry.
